Icebergs Series by Vancouver photographer David Burdeny.

During 2007 and into the spring of 2008, I made several long journeys to the upper and lower extremes of our planet to photograph the shorelines, monolithic ice forms and landscapes of Greenland, Iceland and Antarctica. Most of these places are arduous to reach, beyond the borders of domestic transportation routes, accessible only by small aircraft or boat. All are endangered to some extent – threatened by tourism, climate change, industry and the hunt for oil.

The photo pictured at top, Iceberg 01, Greenland, 2007, helped win Burdeny the title of IPA Nature Photographer of the Year, 2008. Scroll to the second half of the Young Gallery page to see his equally surreal Shorelines Series, made along the shorelines of Japan, Northern France, and the Pacific Northwest.

I am now 27 and probably too old to make wishlists, but WHATEVA. Nobody’s going to buy me these things anyway, but just in case someone’s feeling generous, I’m totally down with that.

Anyway, the week leading up to today has SUCKED BADLY. Like, “how am I going to survive past Tuesday?” badly. Things still kind of suck, and I won’t get into that here, but I’m trying to find my way out of it. Hopefully it will all pan out within the next few days and give me a good start to my 27th year.

And, just in case anyone was curious (you’re not, I know), today is where I get 14eleven from. The 14th of November. Eh? Get it? Yeah. Happy birthday to me, from the past! (this is an auto post.)

Tumblr really needs to work on including the dates when you import your updates to your website using the javascript they provide. I’ve looked around and can’t find any solutions. Plus I’m by no means a programmer so I have no patience to try and do some “grease monkey” kind of thing either. Does anyone have/know of a solution for this?

Hey tumblr, I know I haven’t been a good friend lately, but I just want you to see this giant avocado I have. It’s almost as big as my head. AND I HAVE A VERY BIG HEAD! (that’s what she said!)

So much nicer than those piddly little avocados you see at the grocery store, eh? I love it! And I love Yonis’ mom for sending us giant avocados from her back yard. Mmmm.

Also: I’m sorry I didn’t get pretty for my pictures. It’s cold and I don’t want to wear makeup especially if I work from home.
